Origin and Legend: The Raven of Creation and Ruin

The background of Malphas is interwoven with the arcane symbolism of the raven in Norse, Celtic, and ancient Babylonian cultures. The raven was the messenger of the gods, the observer of battlefields, and the sage who knew the secrets of building and ruining kingdoms.

In the medieval Goetia, Malphas holds the rank of Great President of Hell, having forty legions of spirits under his command. He initially manifests in the appearance of a raven with jet-black plumage and a deep voice, which under command can take human form. Ancient texts attribute to him the power to build towers and high houses out of nothing, but also to instantly destroy the desires, thoughts, and fortifications of enemies.

Historical Evolution: The Builder's Betrayal

During the Late Middle Ages and the Renaissance, grimoires highlighted a crucial warning about Malphas: although he gladly accepts sacrifices offered in his honor, he will deceive and betray the foolish operator who attempts to bribe him without possessing self-mastery.

With the advent of nineteenth-century occultism and theosophy, Malphas ceased to be seen simply as a deceitful spirit, rising instead as the personification of the initiatory trial. He is the architect who tests the structure of the magician's temple; if the temple is poorly built, Malphas will demolish it without mercy.

Esoteric Meaning: The Deconstruction of the False Self

Malphas embodies the duality of building and demolition. In depth psychology and initiatory magic, he represents the process of absolute scrutiny. He has the ability to reveal the innermost thoughts and secret plans of adversaries, collapsing the illusions and false constructs of the ego.

He is the archetype of necessary deconstruction: he destroys the superfluous and the corrupt so that only that which has been erected upon immortal truth remains.

Practice and Manifestation: Discernment and Demolition

Malphas's energy is penetrating, swift, observant, and ruthless with deceit.

Manifestation: It becomes evident when betrayals are abruptly unmasked, when life structures built on lies suddenly collapse, or when the individual gains a cold clairvoyance regarding the true intentions of those around them.

Approach and Protection: Working with Malphas or protecting oneself from his destructive aspect demands brutal honesty with oneself. Malphas devours those who deceive themselves or attempt to use magic out of vanity. The only true protection before the Great Architect of the Abyss is impeccability of intent and the insurmountable solidity of one's own inner truth.
