I feel like my energy is being drained
I feel like my energy is being drained: what it means and what to do
The short answer
Feeling that something or someone is draining your energy (coming back empty from certain places, ending up exhausted after talking to certain people, waking up tired even though you slept) is one of the most common complaints, and it has two sides. First, the physical: fatigue has many medical causes that need to be ruled out. Then, the energetic: according to Viresh Kartik, most of the time it is not an attack, but other people's energy that you absorb without realizing it, and that can be fixed.
First, rule out the physical
Before anything else, see a doctor. Fatigue that won't go away can come from anemia, low iron, low vitamin B12 or vitamin D, thyroid problems, sleep apnea, depression or ongoing stress. A blood test rules out almost all of that. Viresh himself puts it as the first step in his book: make sure it isn't a physical problem; maybe you are missing some vitamin.
Energy vampirism
The idea that one person can "suck" energy out of another is an old one in occultism. The British occultist Dion Fortune devoted a chapter to psychic vampirism in *Psychic Self-Defence* (1930), one of the classic books on the subject. Today the term "energy vampire" is used for those people who, consciously or unconsciously, leave feeling better than when they arrived and leave you feeling worse.
What Viresh Kartik says: three ways you lose your energy
In his *Energy Protection Manual*, Viresh describes three main ways your energy leaks away.
**1. The medium syndrome.** Some people have a more developed sensitivity: "their antennas are up all the time" and they pick up everything, good and bad. The book's example is the bus: you sit down, you relax, and at that moment your antennas are more open than ever. You absorb the worries of the person in front of you, the anger of the one behind you, the stress of the driver. And you get off the bus loaded with things that aren't yours.
**2. Energy theft through your attention.** If you are an empathetic person, someone tells you all their problems, you listen and give them your best energy ("you'll be fine"), and that person leaves relieved while you end up exhausted. Often nobody does it on purpose, but the effect is the same: they unloaded on you.
**3. Cords.** Bonds with other people are made from the chakras: heart cords, sexual cords, power cords. A relationship that already ended can still be connected to you and draining your energy.
And there is a point Viresh considers key: when your energy drops, your level of consciousness drops, you start to lose your will, and that is where the space opens for entities to come in. That is why taking care of your energy is the foundation of any protection.
What to do
**When you've picked up something that isn't yours.** Ask yourself what you feel: fear, stress, worry. Is it yours? If it isn't, close your eyes, go inward, take hold of the center of your power and say: "This is not mine. I return it to where it came from, and I give it back to whoever it belongs to". Repeat it two or three times if needed.
**When someone unloads on you.** While they talk, place a hand over your second chakra, below the navel, consciously. When the person leaves, close your eyes and say: "I leave you with what's yours, I keep what's mine". Inhale deeply, taking back your energy, and exhale, giving back what isn't yours.
**Before exposing yourself.** Before getting on the bus, walking into a hospital, an office where you serve the public, or a cemetery, make the shield: Clipeum.
**To cleanse yourself.** The shower: let cold or lukewarm water hit the back of your neck, between your shoulder blades, which is where parasitic entities attach, and visualize it as liquid light that carries everything away.
**If it's a cord.** The book explains how to cut it with love, never from anger, because from anger "you only make it worse".
If, on top of the fatigue, you feel you don't want to go on, that you feel like ceasing to exist, don't carry it alone: talk to someone you trust, to a professional, or call a helpline in your country.
The complete practice for cutting a cord, the shower, the shield and the daily routine so you never end up empty again are in *The Energy Protection Manual: Defending Yourself Against Entity Attacks*.
