The Leopard of Devouring Fire and the Truth of the Abyss

The Feline of the Flames and Ancient Occultism Flauros (also known as Haures, Havres, or Flros) appears in the Lemegeton and the Pseudomonarchia Daemonum as a Great Duke of Hell who rules over thirty-six legions of spirits. His first form is that of a terrible, majestic, and fiery leopard. However, under the magician's command, he takes the form of a human with a fiery gaze and a face of menacing beauty. The roots of Flauros connect with the feline deities of the desert and the destructive/purifying fire of Middle Eastern pantheons, representing the fireproof predatory force that dwells in the burning sands.

The Flame of the Purge and Occult Inquisition Through the development of Renaissance magic, Flauros was feared for his ability to incinerate and reduce the operator's enemies to ashes, as well as for his power to command other demons and spirits. Nonetheless, the grimoires attributed a crucial quality to him: if summoned within a secure magic triangle, Flauros would answer with the absolute truth about things past, present, and future, and about the creation of the world and the fall of the angels. However, if summoned outside the delimited space, he spoke through seductive lies to drag the individual to ruin.

Purification by Fire: Esoteric Meaning

In high esoteric magic and Left-Hand Path work, Flauros is the personification of the Purifying Fire (Ignis Repurgans) and the Naked Truth:

The Fire Leopard: It represents the conscious predatory instinct, stealth, mental agility, and the fiery force that consumes everything false or corrupt.

The Geometry of the Triangle: The requirement to hold Flauros within the triangle symbolizes the need for mental framing and a firm will to process the Truth without falling into delusion or the illusions of the ego.

The Destroyer of Illusion: Flauros reduces to ashes the lies that the individual tells themselves. It is the fire that burns the chaff of the mind to leave only the fireproof stone of Sovereignty.

Manifestation and Sovereignty The energy of Flauros is perceived as a suffocating heat, an expansive vibration, and an incandescent mental illumination that leaves no shadows to hide in.

How it acts: It acts by consuming psychological defenses, destroying the deceptions of third parties, and burning the emotional ties that limit the individual's freedom. It is a force of radical cleansing.

Approach and Protection: Approaching Flauros demands brutal honesty with oneself. If the individual harbors self-deceptions or attempts to manipulate the truth, Flauros's fire becomes destructive, manifesting as obsession, uncontrollable anger, or personal ruin. Effective protection against his scorching aspect is the purity of one's own Intention and the mastery of the circle of one's own Will, allowing his fire to consume only what is obsolete and purify the core of the Being.
