Martians are the remnants of a human and humanoid civilization that inhabited the surface of Mars in ancient times, before a series of warlike and cosmic cataclysms destroyed the planet's atmosphere and evaporated its oceans. Forced to adapt to avoid extinction, the Martians moved their society entirely beneath the surface of their home world, developing a hermetic, highly technological, and pragmatic culture, oriented exclusively toward self-preservation and monitoring the balance of the solar system.

Millions of years ago, Mars was a living planet, covered in water, with a breathable atmosphere and a thriving ecosystem. The civilization that inhabited it reached an extraordinary level of technological development, but became involved in the great military conflicts of the galaxy, specifically in the aftermath of the Orion Wars and the destructive clashes with factions from the destroyed planet Maldek (Tiamat).
